As my father (cousin Bill Nielson)neared the end of his life I will always remember the tears & emotions he shed talking about his "best friend" Frank. He loved him. I'm sorry I never got to meet Frank. His artwork is beautiful. Thanks to all in Frank's family who created this website.

Hi John, great job in pulling together a site for you Dad! I got a little teary as I looked at all his pictures - what wonderful attention to detail and choked up when I read the article about his diploma. Even though I never met him, I felt like I got to know him a little bit. He was a truly remarkable man and you are wonderful for letting us get a glimpse into his life.

What a great website! Looking at his pictures, we feel as if we know him a little--they are beautiful. We especially liked the ones which had won prizes, as well as the two horses and his plane from WWII. We hope to meet Carl, Marion and the rest of our cousins one of these days. Was Carl in any of the photos?

A terrific idea to put his paintings on this web site and share them with all of us. "Sonny" gave us his portraits of Winston Churchill and a black boy in a red and white shirt. I will take photos of them and send them to you. As a little girl he gave me something that I always cherished a "stuffed dumbo" which was one of my favorites. GREAT JOB Love, Carol

John, fabulous job with the guestbook. I am proud to call Uncle Frank my godfather. He was and still is an inspiration to me and others. Regulary, here in Slovakia, I attend ceremonies to Uncle Frank's fallen comrades of WWII. I also find their airplanes almost 60 years later. When I give a presentation at these ceremonies on behalf of the US Ambassador and the US Air Force, I always mention Uncle Frank and his exploits. To say those exploits were filled with terror would be an understatement. As I hold some these aircraft pieces in my hands, I often drift into thought as to what Uncle Frank must have gone through. He made a sacrifice that most will never have to make and I thank him. I now drift into thoughts, that he is now with many of his aviator friends laughing and catching up on news. Hi John, What a wonderful gift you have shared with us. Frank was one of the special people in our lives. His wonderful talent, kind spirit, and goodness enriched so many lives. We shall always be grateful for the few times we had together, and always for the strong bond of friendship and family we shared.
