In 1970-71 Gerry Cheevers wound up with the same goals against average he did in 1969-70 and he extended his N.H.L. record of consecutive victories in Stanley Cup competition to 11.. Cheevers is in his sixth season with the Bruins. . He was drafted from the Toronto organization back in June of 1965.. His flop-around style of netminding is unorthodox, to say the least, but he stops the puck and that's the name of the game . . This past summer he operated a hockey school with teammate Fred Stanfield, who lives only a few doors away from him in St. Catharines, Ont. . . . Cheevers also races a stable of thoroughbreds on the New England circuit.
