A year ago John Bucyk set his goal scoring objective as 38, for an all-time production of 350, being tops in his 16 year N.H.L. career. .. The Chief, however, surpassed even his fondest ambitions, scoring 51 goals and now, he's shooting for his 400th, this season . .. He needs 37 to hit that mark Bucyk who holds all of the Bruins all-time records, also set two N.H.L. last year. His 65 assists and 116 points were records for a left winger. 1970-71 was his first time ever to win a league trophy, being selected for the Lady Byng award for a combination of excellence on the ice and sportsmanship. . . Despite his rugged play, he drew only four minor penalties in 78 games... He was also named to the All-Star team at left wing for the first time and finished third in the individual scoring . . . His home is in Creston, B.C., where he does a bit of off-season hunting and fishing. He is married and has three children,Jo-Anne 11, Larry 9 and Mike 2.
