Phil Esposito #7 Born 2/20/1942 Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Center 66 Goals 67 Assists 133 Points |
From the 71-72 Bruins Yearbook Phil Esposito had a major role in the Bruins' revision of the National Hockey League record book last season. Phil scored the unbelievable total of 76 goals and 152 points, to win his second Art Ross Memorial Trophy as scoring champion . . . Esposito also recorded new marks for game winning goals, power play goals, most hat tricks a season, most shots and with his linemates, Ken Hodge and Wayne Cashman, a new goal and point record for a line... What can he do for an encore?. .. That's what they asked when he became the first N.H.L. player to score more than 100 points three years ago . . . So, anything is possible Esposito efficiently uses both the wrist shot, when covered in front of the net, and a wicked slap shot ... In the off-season he runs a hockey school in Greater Boston and a lucrative hockey equipment business with his brother Tony and teammate Fred Stanfield... He is married and has two daughters, Laurie Jane and Cane. |
